Marine Thruster

Marine thruster is a propulsion device installed at the bow or stern of a vessel to acquire lateral thrust. According to its functionality, the thruster can be classified into azimuth thruster for steering and side thruster (also called tunnel thruster) for manoeuvring.

Some big vessels even has more than one tunnel thrusters to be more maneuverable, which allows it to dock, or sail through narrow waters easily without a tug boat.

The azimuth thruster is commonly 360 degrees manoeuvrable, used to replace rudder system.

Tunnel thrusters can be driven by electrical motor, diesel engine or hydramatic units. Fountom provides options of fixed pitched and controllable pitched thrusters.

All thrusters provided by Fountom are approved by ABS, DNV, BV, LR, GL, RINA, CCS etc. Contact our team for quotation and technical support suited for your vessel.
